We're Timothy and Danielle—a husband-and-wife team who understand nervous system dysregulation from every angle.
I've lived with AuDHD my entire life. The emotional dysregulation, the rejection sensitivity, the way my nervous system could go from zero to complete overwhelm in seconds—I thought that's just who I was. I learned to mask it, push through it, and pretend I had it together while my nervous system was screaming.
It wasn't until I became a parent that I realized I needed real tools. Not coping mechanisms. Not willpower. Actual regulation techniques that could bring me back from the edge when everything felt like too much.
I've battled depression for years. The kind that makes you freeze—not sad, just... numb. Shut down. Unable to move even when you desperately want to. I tried everything: therapy, medication, meditation apps that told me to "just breathe" when my nervous system was completely offline.
Nothing addressed what was actually happening: my nervous system was stuck in freeze mode, and no amount of positive thinking could shift it.
Then we had children. Neurodivergent, brilliant, struggling children who experience the world with such intensity that regulation felt impossible. We've lived through the 3am anxiety spirals. The meltdowns that come from nowhere. The emotional storms where nothing we tried could help them find calm.
We watched our kids freeze when overwhelmed, rage when dysregulated, and shut down when the world felt like too much. We saw ourselves in them—and we knew the traditional approaches weren't going to work.
We spent years researching polyvagal theory, somatic therapy, and nervous system science—not for academic interest, but because our family needed real solutions. We consulted with therapists, studied the neuroscience, tested every technique on ourselves and with our kids.
We searched everywhere for a tool that could help in those critical moments—something fast, science-backed, and actually designed for dysregulated nervous systems. Everything we found was either too slow, too vague, or required too much thinking during crisis.
So we built Shift.
Not as outsiders looking in, but as people living this reality every single day. A dad with AuDHD who knows what it's like when your emotions hijack everything. A mom with depression who understands complete shutdown. Parents of neurodivergent kids who've held them through countless regulation crises.
Shift is our answer to every moment we've felt our nervous system take over and wished we had something that actually worked.
We believe everyone deserves access to professional nervous system regulation—not just people who can afford weekly therapy. Not just in calm moments, but in crisis. Not someday, but right now.
Shift is the tool we desperately wished existed. We built it for our family, and now we're sharing it with yours.
